The Silence (Assignment 1)

Assignment: Read three sets of song lyrics as poems, then choose one to use as inspiration for your own poem.

Inspiration Piece 2

Well if you told me you were drowning, I would not lend a hand
I've seen your face before my friend, but I don't know if you know who I am
Well I was there and I saw what you did, I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off that grin, I know where you've been
It's all been a pack of lies
I can feel it in the air tonight, oh Lord
Well I've been waiting for this moment for all my life
Well I remember, I remember, don't worry, how could I ever forget
It's the first time, the last time we ever met
But I know the reason why you keep your silence up, oh no you don't fool me
Well the hurt doesn't show, but the pain still grows
It's no stranger to you and me
I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord
Well been waiting for this moment for all my life oh Lord

My poem

You look away from me
And keep your lips silent,
Not sharing the pain that led
You to be the monster you are.

But I saw what you did,
I know what you are.
I want to scorn you
But I only feel pity.

I reach out my hand,
Hoping to help.
But then pull away because
You sicken me.

I turn and walk away,
I cant even look at you anymore.
Keep your secrets to yourself
Because I don't want to know.
